Garbage

American rock band formed in 1993,

headed by Shirly Manson. Alternative

quartet Garbage debuted in the 90´s

with a guitar-based, electronic-washed

sound, adding a distinct sense of

accessible pop that would help push them

beyond cult fandom into the international

sphere through multi-platinum releases.

Placebo

English rock band formed in London, 1994

by vocalist-guitarist Brian Molko and

bassist Stefan Olsdal.

Androgynous appearance and punky

guitar riffs, their musical content and

lyrics are openly discussed sexuality,

mental health and drug use.

Placebo have collaborated with various 

artists, including David Bowie. They have

released seven studio albums.

PJ Harvey

Polly Jean "PJ" Harvey is an English musician

and singer-songwriter. Over the course of her

career, she established herself as one of the most

influential song-writers of her time, exploring themes

of sex, religion, and political issues with dark humor

and great honesty.

The Sugarcubes

Icelandic alternative rock band

from Reykjavik formed in 1986

and disbanded in 1993.

Their 1988 debut album,

Life´s Too Good, attracted great

reviews and an unexpected

international hit.

Björk would later become 

a successful internationally

solo musician.

Frankie Knuckles

Frankie Knuckles (1955-2014)

 

Francis Warren Nicholls, Jr.

better known as Frankie Knuckles,

was an American DJ, record producer

and remixer.

He played an important role in

developing house music in Chicago

during the 1980s. 

Without him, dance music would be

immeasurably different.

Massive Attack

 

English electronic band formed

in Bristol, England, 1988.

As the genesis point of trip-hop,

Massive Attack originated the 

hypnotic sound with a darkly

sensual fusion of hip-hop rhythms,

soul melodies, dub grooves, and

samples. The group created some

of the most influential sound of their time.

American singer-songwriter, musician,

occasional actress and model.

An artist who reveal her inner self and

performs with strength and fragility.

Cat Power´s sound mix punk, folk,

blues and other genres in her later material.

Roxy music

English rock band formed in 1970 by Bryan Ferry,

the lead singer and main songwriter.

Roxy Music had a fascination with fashion, glamour,

cinema, pop art, and the avantgarde.

During the early 70´s the band was driven by the

creative tension between Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno.

Following Eno´s departure, Roxy Music continued

gradually working in elements of disco and soul.

They developed a sophisticated seductive soul-pop.

Sonic Youth

American rock band formed in 1981, New York City.

Sonic Youth became one of the most influential and

popular bands from the American underground.

Alternate tunings, dissonance, feedback combined

with the intensity of hardrock punk, created a new sonic

landscape with an impact that lasted for decades.

Australian music duo composed of Lisa Gerrard and Brendan Perry in 1981. They combine elements of European folk music -Middle Age and the Renaissance-with ambient pop, Gaelic folk, and darkwave. In 2019 the duo embarked on their largest European tour yet entitled “A Celebration-Life & Works 1980-2019”.

Lisa Gerrard and Jules Maxwell new album "Burn" in May 2021. Brendan Perry new album "Songs of Disenchantment" with a world tour in 20222.

David Bowie

A musical chameleon, adapting himself according
to fashion and trends.
Bowie demonstrated a remarkable skill for perceiving
musical movements: punk, new wave, goth rock,
the new romantics, and electronica.
Ziggy Stardust made Bowie an international star in 1972.
He recorded three experimental electronic albums
with Brian Eno.
Bowie was one of the most influential musicians in the
´80s and ´90s till his last album Blackstar.
